Baby B cooperated and even posed for pictures. Baby A on the other hand decided to stand on his/her head the entire sonogram.

When the sonogram first started, we saw the babies immediately! They were bouncing all over the place. Then Baby B stopped and even looked like he/she was waving. Now Baby A got a little camera shy and decided to hide. We got a fabulous shot of its foot! I had to move around to see if Baby A would cooperate, but sadly Baby A chose to stand on its head.

The sonogram tech said the babies looked great. They had strong heart beats and were a good size. It sounds crazy..but the babies are a day apart, so one baby is a bit bigger than the other.

Chad has a theory about this...
It is a medical fact that 'Boy" sperm takes longer to get to the egg and usually die before reaching the egg.."Girl" sperm are faster and live longer.
Chads theory is:
Since we have one baby a day older than the other baby...the bigger baby (baby A) is a boy since that sperm dies off faster and the smaller baby (baby B) is a girl since they live longer and are more vital.

Sooooo ? We will find out what we are having next month...we are so excited to know what we are having!

It was so crazy getting to see double trouble bouncing around inside my belly today. It is amazing how you can love someone so much with out even knowing them yet. I constantly worry about them and worry if I am doing the right thing for the babies. It is crazy to know that our lives will never be the same. We are so happy and so blessed. We can not believe we are going to be parents to TWINS!
We totally caught up with Michelle and David and Tanner and Keila. I guess you can say we are over achievers!

Everyone has been so supportive, and so wonderful! My moms dear friend Nannette seems to bring her jokes every time we talk...she is bound and determined that I have triplets! She believes the third baby is hiding behind my liver! I have decided she secretly hates me! haha!

Thank you for all your prayers and sweet words. Chad and I are blessed to have such a supportive family! Kallie seems excited to become a cousin and a sister herself. Keila is a few weeks a head of me (even though I look like I am four months ahead of her). Spencer went ahead and named the twins the other day. 1 and 2. Simple and to the point. He is so smart.
We are so excited to know that our babies are going to have amazing cousins who will love them and show them the ropes.

More updates to come...here are the twins pics at 12 weeks!

Pregnancy at 11 weeks....

Well I am at 11 weeks and I am starting to feel better! Not 100%, but a lot better than before. We have our 12 week sonogram next Thursday (Oct 16) and our next Dr. Apt the following Thursday (Oct 23). We are so ready to see our babies again!

Although I have been super sick and I have a belly bigger than some who are already close to 20 weeks, It still seems unreal that I have two babies in there! I told Chad I am just ready to see them again so I can reassure myself everything is OK...I worry constantly that I am not doing enough, or doing something wrong. I just need to see them and hear their sweet heart beats and I will breathe a HUGE sigh of relief! At least for a little bit, then I will be waiting for the next sonogram!

Poor Chad. He has to put up with so much. My random moods, my emotional cry fests, my random taste in food, never knowing if I want to eat it until I see and smell it, sickness, headaches, sleepless nights, back pain, cravings, pickle snow cones, clam chowder, pickles cookies and many many other random not attractive pregnancy issues! He has been wonderful! Never complains, gets me anything and everything. He takes care of me everyday and constantly worries about me and the babies all day long.

I am so very lucky to have him and our babies are so lucky to have him as their father!!

Just a thought: If you ever meet a pregnant lady, and this is her very first pregnancy..PLEASE refrain from awful scary stories! All you do is freak them out and cause them to stress.

EXAMPLE:

I was minding my own business when a lady I once worked with walks up to me to congratulate me on my pregnancy. We started talking and this is how the conversation went:

Her: How far along are you?

Me: 10 weeks

Her: When is your next sonogram?

Me: At 12 weeks, so excited.

Her: Oh. Well you know I was pregnant?

Me: um no I didn't

Her: Yes. had a DNC a few days ago.

Me: oh my goodness, so sorry.

Her: Yeah, went in for my 12 week sonogram and there was no heartbeat.

Me: (a dirty look) wow.

Her: yeah, so be prepared., It happens a lot is what my Dr said.

Me: ( a really bad look) OK.

Moral of the story is...don't be that girl!

THERE ARE TWO!!!

CONFIRMED!!
TWINS! After drinking 32oz of water in one hour, having to stay late at work cause one of my kids had a "problem," and rushing through traffic to get to Grace Clinic on time, I was FINALLY there. Chad started the paper work process and was basically done with everything. What a wonderful husband I have! We sat in the waiting room, both excited and nervous of what was to come. They called our name and chills just ran through my body! We were about to see our baby! YEAH! Our nurse was super and explained step by step to us. Then she turns the screen for Chad and I to see...there it was this super tiny little spot. "That's your baby!" She also said I am about 6weeks and a day prego. I thought that was interesting because we all thought I was about 8 weeks! We looked at the screen some more and we could see the heartbeat and it was so amazing. Chad and I were both relieved. Then she said I have to take a few more pics, it will just take a minute. Chad said he could tell the nurse kept going back to one spot over and over. He was getting a bit curious. The nurse said, I am going to go get Lindsey, she has been doing this a lot longer than me, I will be right back. I could see it in Chad's eyes, something was up! Lindsey came in and after a few minutes of silence and the girls pointing at the screen saying "uh huh", and "yes," I finally said :is everything ok?" They both in unison said "yes." I then said "there is only one right?" They both giggled and said "well, we are not for sure." Chad and I looked at each other and smiled...TWINS!!! They said they could see the sack for baby #2 but the baby was so small, and hiding that it was nearly impossible to see the heartbeat. We tried for almost an hour and decided that they would send the images to my Dr and he would make the call.

Before we even got out of Grace my Dr called..."I heard a rumor." I said I guess good news travels fast. He put Gwen on and I am almost positive we had a conversation, but all I could hear was TWINS, TWO and BABIES! All I remember is her saying I needed to hang up and call imaging and set up another sonogram next week to see if we can see baby # 2 heartbeat. SO I did just that! We have another appointment Sept 9th.

We do know that there is a chance that the second sack may not be viable and I could only be carrying one baby. We also know that there could be a chance that I will not carry twins past the first trimester. We will know more once we can see baby #2. We are asking for prayers and good thoughts for our ever growing family. We know God will bless us either way and do what is best for our family.

Keep us in your thoughts...and more updates to come, after the sonogram...

Our Family is GROWING..here is how we found out

August 18, 2008.
I was sitting in my class at Wayland, trying to keep my mind focused on what my teacher was saying, but Chad's text of "have you thought about taking a pregnancy test," was running through my mind. I mean, yes I have been very sleepy lately, and yes I felt sick last night and before class, but pregnant? I couldn't be. After class was over I decided to make a stop at Walgreen's to get a pregnancy test. I mean, I needed to ease my mind. I knew I wasn't, I was just going to take one to show Chad he was foolish to even make me think I could be pregnant. I went ahead and got the test that had three test in the box. I don't know why, I just thought "eh, why not?" When I went up to the cashier and laid my PT test on the counter, the 18+ year old says "oooh" and makes a face that all but screamed "that sucks." He told me my total, I paid and grabbed my bag. Then the little turd says "good luck with all that." I smiled shook my head, and left. When I got home I went straight to our bathroom. Just get it over with so you can enjoy your night of watching "The Hills." After I took the test, I came into the kitchen and told Chad what I was in the process of doing. Without a worried look or word, he nodded his head. I know the test said 3 minutes before results, but I mean really...I was just gonna take a look to see if it was working. What...two lines? Maybe this is the test where two lines is negative, one is positive. I sat on the toilet and looked at it as the second line got darker and darker. I walked in to the kitchen where my sweet husband stood. I was holding the test and I am sure my face said it all. He said "what are you doing with that test and that look?" I said I am confused! He laughed and said "don't come in here with a test and that look and say your confused." we both examined the test, agreeing the line was not dark enough! I decided, hey I got two more. Why not! So I down water like I am in the desert and dying of thirst. Chad tried to get my mind of things by turning on the Hills and we watched both giving each other looks and laughing at how many bottles of water I have gone through in 10 minutes. During a commercial break I realize I can take another test. Chad wishes me luck and I head back to the bathroom. I came back to the living room to continue to watch the Hills. I decide, I will wait the 3 minutes this time. The Hills are now over, so I will go check the line situation. OK, this time....TWO LINES, both DARK! No doubt about it, its positive! At that moment Chad checked the first test, boy was that second line just as dark. We went to bed that night, in shock and trying to process the situation. We decided I would call my PCP and see if I could come in for a blood test first thing in the morning. (I also took the third test at like 4 am...same result).

August 19, 2008
I called my Dr and he told me to walk on in. He wanted me to do a blood test and a PT in his office. While I am getting my blood drawn, the other nurse is checking my PT test. I hear her say "positive" and I start laughing. I knew I was, but hearing the NURSE say it, felt even more real. My Dr said he would call me the next day and tell me what my blood results are. I walked out thinking, I can't talk to my mom for another day, she'll know I am pregnant in my voice!

August 20, 2008
My Dr calls.."your prego my dear!" I knew it when I saw his number on my phone. Chad and I realize I have to tell my mom and dad today. There is no way I can avoid talking to her any longer. Mom and dad came over that night and mom could see there was something going on in my face. She finally asks me "Kayci, are you feeling ok?" Chad chimes in with, she is stressed, she failed three test yesterday." My mom is in shock, "what, are you serious, can you make them up?" Dad is silent just starring at me. Chad says "do you want to see them?" He pulls out the three PT that changed our lives, lays them on the counter and it is SILENT! I look at mom to see if she is stroking out and she utters out "are you?" I said yep..I'm pregnant! The rest is a fog, other than my dad still thinking I failed three test at Wayland. He didn't quite get the joke. He even called 30 minutes after he left to see if I was passing everything! haha! Oh Jimmy!

As the week went on we told our immediate family and closest friends. We wanted to wait until we had actually gone to my OBGYN before we told people at work and everyone else. The word was out before we knew and Chad and I all but wanted to shout it from the roof top! Telling our family and friends made it more and more real and we got more and more excited!

August 27, 2008
Chad and I had our first Dr appt and we were so excited. We didn't know what to expect. We chatted for a long time with my Dr nurse, whom I love! Her name is Gwen and she is FABULOUS! We started trying to figure out my due date. Lots of controversy surrounded this issue, and frankly you wouldn't care to hear what that controversy was. Lets just say "I am not normal, neither is mother nature." Gwen finally says lets just go by this date, which would put me anywhere from 6-8 weeks. I was good with that. We left the office feeling pretty good and full of great info! So we started to spread the word!

I MISSED A CRUCIAL DAY..........
August 25, 2008
Scary awful day. I started spotting and I literally freaked out. I called Gwen and left her a message, called Chad and then my mom. I was so upset and so scared. My mom came over and sat with me, reassuring me that it was going to be ok. Chad did the same. Begged me not to stress out yet. Finally we got the call from Gwen. I told her what was happening. She was so calm and so sweet. She talked to me about different scenarios and what we were gonna do next. Gwen suggests we do a blood test to get my hormone level and all the other blood test you get when you find out your prego. She wanted me to come up there right then, so she could get the results the next day. Chad and I drove up there, not knowing what to expect. For those of you who do not know, they draw literally 12 tubes of blood....I was like "um, kinda need some of that blood to, I dunno...LIVE!" It was a little overwhelming. The good thing was the man who drew my blood was amazing! Didn't feel a thing! I also realized I was no longer spotting, so my nerves were a lot calmer by the time we got home. I was just ready to hear from Gwen.
Gwen called the next day and said she wanted me to go in a do another hormone level check. MORE BLOOD! She just wanted to make sure we calculated my due date right. My levels were a bit high and she wanted to wait to set up a sonogram, until we had a better idea of when I was due. I went back in and got my blood drawn. Only three tubes this time, peace of cake!

August 29, 2008
Gwen calls and talks to me about setting up an early sonogram. My levels were a lot higher than she had expected, which means I could be further a long than we had figured. This actually made me feel better, because I was already showing...not kidding!
So we set up our first sonogram for Sept 3rd. COULDN'T WAIT!
