Our first sonogram! After drinking 32oz of water in one hour, having to stay late at work cause one of my kids had a "problem," and rushing through traffic to get to Grace Clinic on time, I was FINALLY there. Chad started the paper work process and was basically done with everything. What a wonderful husband I have! We sat in the waiting room, both excited and nervous of what was to come. They called our name and chills just ran through my body! We were about to see our baby! YEAH! Our nurse was super and explained step by step to us. Then she turns the screen for Chad and I to see...there it was this super tiny little spot. "That's your baby!" She also said I am about 6weeks and a day prego. I thought that was interesting because we all thought I was about 8 weeks! We looked at the screen some more and we could see the heartbeat and it was so amazing. Chad and I were both relieved. Then she said I have to take a few more pics, it will just take a minute. Chad said he could tell the nurse kept going back to one spot over and over. He was getting a bit curious. The nurse said, I am going to go get Lindsey, she has been doing this a lot longer than me, I will be right back. I could see it in Chad's eyes, something was up! Lindsey came in and after a few minutes of silence and the girls pointing at the screen saying "uh huh", and "yes," I finally said :is everything ok?" They both in unison said "yes." I then said "there is only one right?" They both giggled and said "well, we are not for sure." Chad and I looked at each other and smiled...TWINS!!! They said they could see the sack for baby #2 but the baby was so small, and hiding that it was nearly impossible to see the heartbeat. We tried for almost an hour and decided that they would send the images to my Dr and he would make the call.
Before we even got out of Grace my Dr called..."I heard a rumor." I said I guess good news travels fast. He put Gwen on and I am almost positive we had a conversation, but all I could hear was TWINS, TWO and BABIES! All I remember is her saying I needed to hang up and call imaging and set up another sonogram next week to see if we can see baby # 2 heartbeat. SO I did just that! We have another appointment Sept 9th.
We do know that there is a chance that the second sack may not be viable and I could only be carrying one baby. We also know that there could be a chance that I will not carry twins past the first trimester. We will know more once we can see baby #2. We are asking for prayers and good thoughts for our ever growing family. We know God will bless us either way and do what is best for our family.
Keep us in your thoughts...and more updates to come, after the sonogram...
